Tough Day with Mom

Last night Annabelle started wheezing and coughing again so I stayed home with her today. I took her to the walk in clinic and actually saw the same dr that we saw 2 weeks ago. He gave her a steroid shot to help with the croup cough and she is back on the neb treatments. The dr said he couldn't believe she was not feeling well; she was chatting and clapping the whole time he was in there with us, she is so funny. I probably could have brought her to daycare but I figured I would give her a good day of rest and see if we can shake what ever it is that she has.

This past week she has really started to roll around and I mean all around the room. One day I put her on one side of the room and sat on the other and she would roll over and over until she got to where I was then I would go to the other side and she would roll back to me. Today she ended up under the coffee table, not quite sure where she was trying to go. Then a little later she was playing with her toys and the next time I looked she was fast asleep. She must have had a tough day!

More "Firsts"

Annabelle got her first bruise yesterday at daycare. Apparently a kid in her room got mad and threw a toy. Poor little Annabelle couldn't move fast enough to get out of the way and was hit right in the forehead. She has a small bruise on the right side of her head. If you look real close you can also see her tooth coming through (and the green beans she got up her nose while eating).

Charlie also for the first time last night ate something of Annabelle's. I am actually surprised it took this long, I thought he would have peed on or eaten something of hers in the first month or two. Can you guess what he ate... she threw her spoon on the floor last night when she was done eating and Charlie went to lick it clean. I just left it there and got her ready for her bath and bedtime. After awhile Charlie was being very quite and I found him on his mat in front of the fire place happily chewing away on his new found treasure.

Teeth Teeth and more Teeth

Annabelle had her 7th tooth make an appearance today! We can't believe how fast they are coming in ...they just don't stop! It is on the bottom on the left hand side. The timing of this tooth is actually kind of funny. I bought a book last week about how to help babies sleep better. Annabelle does a great job already but at night it takes her a time or two of being put down after rocking to stay asleep. The book said that babies her age need about 14 hours of sleep total, she is not even close to that, and once they achieve that amount of sleep they will be much happier. Brian and I chuckled a little bit because we didn't think our little peanut could get any happier. We the past few nights she has stayed sleeping in her crib the first time we put her there and has been sleeping from about 8pm to 9am!! She did get up at 7:30 Sat and Sun drank a bottle and then back to sleep and she has been in an AWESOME mood. The little baby we thought couldn't get any happier has. She has been smiling no stop and just talking up a storm. Her naps during the day have also become longer. Brian and I were just talking about how well she has been doing and then this morning I saw something white in her mouth when we were playing. I am not going to lie I though it might have been cardboard (she may have chewed up a book today when we weren't watching) but no it was a little tooth poking through - you can already feel it. I can't believe this child gets teeth without us even knowing about it.

Mama

Annabelle has learned the "m" sound! (she has known the "d" sound for a while) She was sitting on Brian's lap last week and I was trying to get some things done. Annabelle still wasn't feeling the best and was jabbering and whining and then clear as could be she said "mama" Brian was so excited! She hasn't connected it to me yet but I don't think that will take long. It is so exciting to watch her grow and develop into her own little person.

Few other exciting things that have happened this week: We took the cats to the vet and guess how much they weigh - 13.5 pounds and 13.25 pounds - almost as much as Annabelle that is crazy. We have had a handful of showings of our house. It makes me a little nervous because I still don't know where we would move to; I just keep thinking that things happen for a reason and they will work out in the end.

Neb Treatments

Annabelle went back to the doctor again today. I was really hoping to make it through the winter with out her getting sick and we were so close. There have been at least 2 kids at her daycare that have been diagnosed with RSV and one ended up in the hospital. For the past few days Annabelle hasn't been herself; she has been running a low grade fever, runny nose, cough and last night she started wheezing. Today we ventured to the walk in clinic and turns out she has crud in her lungs which is causing the wheezing and may have a touch of croup. We didn't test her for RSV because there is no real treatment for it so we didn't think it was necessary to put her through a test that wasn't needed. She gets to have a nebulizer treatment 2 times a day for at least a week and if we notice any more changes in her breathing we are going to bring her back in. We did her first treatment tonight and so far so good.

On a side note the on call doctor that we saw today said she may be the happiest baby he has ever met. She is running a small fever, barks like a seal when she coughs and still manages to smile, "talk" and waive at people. For all the parents out there who don't want to hear it (I get that a lot :) ) Brian and I have had a few long nights the past few days because her cough has been waking her up.

Good News: she weighs 14 pounds 9 oz - she is getting bigger!

Standing

The little peanut can stand - unbelievable. Brian and I bought her this toy yesterday and she loves it she won't sit down until her legs are so tired they won't let her stand anymore. It is just crazy how fast she is growing!

Baby Sign

Since Brian hasn't been going to work in the morning he has been responsible for Annabelle until I am ready for her. This morning she woke up at 6 so I got up showered and started getting ready for the day. I left her in our room with Brian and did not return until I was ready otherwise she gets mad and wants me to hold her; if I am out of sight she is just fine. I took my time getting ready and when I went back into our room I found Brian and Annabelle sound asleep. It was so adorable I almost didn't want to wake them. It just melts my heart to see the two of them together.

Last night Annabelle and I started a 6 week adventure. We are taking a baby sign language class. We meet on Monday nights for about an hour for 6 weeks. Babies are encouraged to come with the parents and we learn 6 new signs every week. Annabelle is by far the youngest in the class, most of them are between 9-12 months so she isn't to far off, and I was very thankful after the 1st meeting that she isn't able to move. All the other kids were running around and playing while their parents tried to get them to come over and "pay attention" to what was going on. The instructor did a great job telling us that we should incorporate the signing with their play time so it was ok, but none the less I was glad my child stayed on the floor right next to me.

Annabelle might be a little young to sign but she is waiving, clapping and moving her hands all the time so I don't think it will take her to long to catch on. She also wants nothing to do with crawling but can stand up by herself while holding on to a table to a tall toy. She will be on the move before we know it and then look out!

14 pounds 2 oz

Annabelle had her weigh in last week and everyone was happy. She weighed in (fully dressed) at 14 pounds 2 oz; she gained almost 2 pounds in the last month. We are glad that she is growing!

She has had a busy week: all three teeth have come in and the 6th tooth is the way, Brian was home all week recovering from knee surgery and Grandma Fox was here spending time with Annabelle. I think both Grandma and Annabelle had a nice week at home and I really enjoyed coming home after work to find a happy baby and the smell of supper baking in the oven. I told Brian I could really get use to coming home from work and have supper ready to go.

Brian goes back to the doctor on Wed for a check up on his knee. He is feeling much better and is getting around pretty well. I really hope that the surgery was a success - so far so good.
